El Círculo de Dibujo, se creó en 1995 por la iniciativa de un grupo de artistas plásticos. Funcionó por muchos años en el MACCSI y ahora se reune en el MBA de Caracas. En los últimos años se han fundado otros Círculos en Maracay y Margarita. Entre nuestras metas está difundir esta iniciativa en otras partes de Venezuela.
Introduction
Literally our name means "The Circle of Drawing" We are a group of artist who get together once a week to draw and developed different projects. Initially it started in Caracas in 1995 but know there are different groups going on in other parts of Venezuela
La actividad del Círculo de Dibujo ha sido incansable en estos últimos 12 años y por él han transitado figuras nacionales e internacionales como también ha estado presente en un sin número de eventos. La condición indispensable para ingresar es el buen dibujo, lo que no sólo ha reunido artistas plásticos destacados sino otros profesionales afines: diseñadores, arquitectos y geógrafos. También han particapado como dibujantes literatos, actores, bailarines y otros cuyos aportes y talento en el dibujo han enriquecido nuestra experiencia. Su sede por 9 años fue los talleres del Museo de Arte Contemporaneo (MACCSI), actualmente el Círculo desarrolla sus actividades en el Museo de Bellas Artes. Habitualmente se reúne una vez por semana para dibujar con modelos, como también se trabajan proyectos conjuntos diversos. Propicia encuentros con personajes del mundo artístico, musical, literario, científico, político y otros, donde los invitados comparten sus experiencias mientras son dibujados. Entre otros invitados se recuerdan Ramón J. Velásquez, con su interesante exposición histórica de siglo XIX en Venezuela, la amena conversación de Rubén Monasterio, el artista español Genovés, el humosista cubano Pirulo, el cineasta Diego Rísquez, la pintora Luisa Ritcher, los escritores Adriano González León y Arturo Uslar Pietri, y tantos otros que por no nombrarlos no dejan de ser igualmente importantes. En ocasiones como en la poesía y la música las actividades se han fusionado. Tal como sucedió con las poesias de Elizabeth Shön y Leonardo Padrón, o el piano de Prisca Dávila o Gerry Weil donde ambos procesos fluían paralelamente.

The activity of the Circle of Drawing has been steady going during the last 12 years. Many national and international figures have participated in different events. The essential condition to join it is a good drawing. This has resulted in group which not only includes fine arts artists but designers, architects and even a geographer. Also writers, actors and dancers with a special gift for drawing have enriched its experience. For 9 years it worked in the Museum of Contemporary Art (MACCSI), now is meeting in the Museum of Fine Arts (MBA). Generally it engages once a week in the drawing of live models but it also develops different common projects. Often invites artists, writers, politicians, scientists and many others personalities which are drawn while they talk about their life and work. Among them are remembered Ramón J. Velásquez, ex-president and historian who gave and interesting summing of Venezuela in XIX century, the enjoyable conversation with Rubén Monasterios, Genovés an Spanish artist who had an exhibition at the MACCSI then, lots of laughs with Pirulo a cuban humorist, The film director Diego Rísquez, the painter Luisa Ritcher, the prize winning writers Adriano González León, Arturo Uslar Pietri, and many others not mentioned but just as important. Some of these were joint activities which mix drawing with different arts; among them can be recalled the reading of poetry of Elizabeth Shön and Leonardo Padrón, and the concerts of Prisca Dávila and Gerry Weil
